Before Taking the Medicine: Make sure to tell the doctor if the patient: Is pregnant, plan to become pregnant or is breastfeeding; Have been taking vitamin C for a long time. Talk to the doctor as the patient may need to stop taking them slowly as sodium ascorbate can alter the kidney function.; Is taking antacids (indigestion remedies) which contain aluminum; Is taking aspirin as it can interfere with the absorption of sodium ascorbate; Is taking desferrioxamine (used to treat excessive absorption and storage of iron and some abnormalities).
If the patient sees another doctor, needs blood or urine tests, or goes into hospital, let the doctor know what medicines the patient is taking.
